According to Techub News and the Wall Street Journal, AI startup Perplexity has made an unsolicited acquisition offer to Google for $34.5 billion to acquire the Chrome browser. This bid is higher than Perplexity's own valuation of about $18 billion and has received full support from several large venture capital funds. A U.S. court is considering whether to require Google to divest Chrome to weaken its search market monopoly, but Google has no intention of selling at this time. Chrome currently has approximately 3.5 billion users worldwide, accounting for over 60% of the browser market share.
